During the UiB AI #16 seminar, three of our SLATE colleagues will be presenting their insights from the research program Trustworthy AI.
Over the past decade, artificial intelligence has achieved major technological breakthroughs, and it has become a natural part of work in research, education and working life. However, for AI to gain broad acceptance in society, it is crucial that the systems that use artificial intelligence are trustworthy. Today's AI systems lack scientific definitions and clear criteria for values such as fairness, responsibility, security, privacy and other important ethical aspects. There are also serious weaknesses in the legal frameworks within which AI systems operate, and problems with accuracy and robustness in the systems.
To meet these challenges and strengthen high-quality AI research at UiB, the Trond Mohn Research Foundation (TMF) and the University of Bergen (UiB) have developed the research program Trustworthy AI. Insights from the research program will be presented at this seminar.
TMF and UiB launched three projects totaling NOK 40 million in research for more reliable artificial intelligence systems. The project AI and Education: Layers of Trust (EduTrust AI) is a collaboration between SLATE, the Faculty of Psychology (UiB), and the Faculty of Law (UiB).
Representing EduTrust AI at the seminar are Professor Barbara Wasson (Director of SLATE and the project leader of EduTrust AI), SLATE Postdoctoral Fellow Fride Klykken and SLATE-affiliated PhD Candidate Alessia Di Muro (Faculty of Law).
Please note: The seminar will be held in English.
