SLATE is establishing the following three continuing and further education courses, starting in the autumn of 2026:

• Introduction to Human–AI Systems (5 credits)

• AI for Learning (5 credits)

• Data Analytics (5 credits)

These interdisciplinary micro-courses are flexible and web-based, and they will provide students in working life with necessary and timely knowledge and competence about the interaction between humans and AI. The courses will expand the continuing and further education (EVU) offerings at the Faculty of Psychology and the University of Bergen (UiB), and help position UiB as a leading research and education organization in the field of artificial intelligence.

Candidates who complete the courses will be able to actively contribute to an ethical, sustainable and responsible development of hybrid systems between people and technology. Therefore, they will be a valuable resource to their own company in meeting current and future organizational needs, challenges, and create opportunities for further development.

Support from Stakeholders

Based on interest and support from key players and partners, who will promote the courses in their own organizations and networks, SLATE expects that the courses will reach target numbers for students already at the first implementation.

SLATE's network of stakeholders consists of several large public and private actors and actor networks, such as Studiesentrene i Vestland (SIV), NAV, and DigitalNorway, with its 25 member organisations (DNB, Equinor, Telenor, the Norwegian Armed Forces, and others).

A Future Master's Degree

SLATE's long-term ambition is to create more EVU courses in human-AI systems, and in the long term form the basis for a full-fledged experience-based master's degree in human-AI systems by the end of 2029.

In collaboration with UiB Videre, SLATE recently received support from Vestland County Municipality for the development and piloting of the three courses through the support scheme Tilskot til forprosjekt for nye utdanningtiltilbud - Vestland fylkeskommune.
