NOKI: A Nationwide AI Olympiad for Upper Secondary School Students!

March 19, 2026

NOKI provides the first nationwide opportunity for upper secondary school students to learn about Artificial Intelligence (AI) before entering university. This week, the AI Olympiad gold medalist was selected for the national team!

NOKI (Norwegian Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence) is Norway’s official AI Olympiad for upper secondary school students who are interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI). It serves as the national framework for selecting and preparing Norway’s team for the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI).

NOKI's goal is to develop an AI community among young talents and establish an AI academy for upper secondary school students.

The AI Competition

In 2025 – 2026, three rounds of the competition were held, involving around 1200 students from all over Norway. 24 of the students were then selected for the third round of the competition, which was held in Bergen at the Faculty of Psychology at UiB in March of 2026.

Among these 24 students, gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded, and the top gold medalist was then selected for the national team. This team will compete in an international competition during the summer, where more than 80 countries will participate.
