SLATE’s first intern

April 9, 2016

SLATE’s first intern, Kamila Misiejuk, was born and raised in Wroclaw Poland, but moved to Berlin to begin her studies. Bit by the travel bug, she continued to seek out opportunities to travel and came to Bergen autumn 2015 through the Erasmus programme, where she was a student of SLATE Director Professor Barbara Wasson.  A mutual interest in information science and learning analytics led to Misiejuk staying on in Bergen for an internship, a practical, hands-on experience in doing research.

“She is bright and hard working”, says Wasson, who collaborates with Misiejuk on the State-of-the-Field of Learning Analytics and Knowledge (SoF LAK) project. “Thanks to Misiejuk’s hard work we have been able to identify several hundred articles that allude to learning analytics.”

Wasson and Misiejuk are now working with Norway's Knowledge Centre for Education (KSU) to refine their search to reduce this material and select the articles that will be most relevant to building a systematic overview that is a critical step towards mapping the field of Learning Analytics and Knowledge (LAK), a new, emerging field of research.
