Wasson outlined some of the background research and activity that resulting in the awarding of the Centre funding, as well as providing and overview of SLATE’s mission and goals; the Ministry of Education and Research’s mandate for the Centre; its research plan and more. As a national competence development node for the relatively new and evolving field of Learning Analytics, Wasson underlined that the Centre aims to work with other research centres and groups nationally and internationally to fulfil its Ministry mandate.

She highlighted that SLATE is unique among research centres at UiB, because all the Faculties signed its application, committing to participation.
