Research Blog

Communicating Beyond Academia

August 1, 2018

In 2018, SLATE PhD candidate, Joakim Vindenes, began a blog, called, “Matrise”.

Research blogs respond to a growing demand from research stakeholders and the general public, for increased transparency and access to ongoing research.

Vindenes’ blog takes up a number of themes and discusses them from research, philosophical, historical and reflective points of view: always well-written and informative. Recent titles include:

  • Virtual Embodiment;
  • Inner as Outer: Projecting Mental States as External Reality;
  • Camera Lucida;
  • Camera Obscura and the World of Illusions; and,
  • The History of Virtual Reality.

His blog also deals with more technical issues relating to computer science. Here we find informative discussions about technical support for running VR, including Videnes’ experience as an Apple developer with a beta version he procured of Apple’s newest eGPU support.

Vindenes writes about his blog:

“Matrise (Eng. matrix), is a blog focusing mainly on the topics of VR and Consciousness, and the related Science & Philosophy. The blog also cover other technologies that impact human behavior or consciousness, from lifestyle to medical treatment.”

@Matriseblog has both Facebook and Twitter sites.
